Description
I took this picture one week before the National Gallery closed due to the Corona-19. This painting is by Bernardo Bellotto, called Venice: The Grand Canal facing Santa Croce, about 1738. In truth it was actually painted by Canaletto's talented nephew while he was working in his uncle's studio. Bellotto prepared the composition in a drawing which is itself based on a drawing by Canaletto.
