Description
Popular to belief and legend, this gentleman is not Doc Holliday. He is John Escapule, born in France in 1856, who came to southeast Arizona in 1877.
John became friendly with Tombstone founder Ed Schieffelin, who hired him to haul timber to the local mines. Escapule eventually got his own mines and ran an assay office near the OK Corral. He also bought ranches, a mill, and reportedly gave the land for the old city cemetery (not Boot Hill), where he and his wife are buried (he died in 1926).
Escapules have stuck around the area ever since. John’s great-grandson Dusty is the once and current mayor.

Ummmmm that's NOT Doc Holliday. That man's name is John Escapule, grandfather of the current Tombstone mayor Dusty Escapule. He's mistakenly used in HUNDREDS of tattoo's. A couple of things about Doc. There are only 2 authenticated pics of Doc, one as a young man graduating dental school and one taken in Prescott before his arrival in Tombstone. He had light hair, almost blond, and was dying of Tuberculosis. John Escapule had dark hair and looks pretty darn healthy. ;)
