Description
Blast furnaces from Pittsburgh Northside Steel Works, 1950’s. Demolished in 1980s. This shows a series of Blast Furnaces which turned Iron Ore and Coke sinter into molten iron which is then turned into Steel elsewhere. Lots of Carbon Monoxide is formed, but is stored as a fuel gas to provide process heat. It's still the same process - but now off-shore.
